Varieties: Tempranillo mainly, with Garnacha, Graciano & Mazuelo.
Appearance: Deep crimson.
Nose: Aromatically pronounced, with dark berries, cedar, and spice.
Palate: Dry, medium bodied. Plenty of harmonious deep cherry, dark berries, integrated cedar and spice. Very well balanced with a long and sultry finish.
Vinification: Paisajes (pronounced: pie-sarhh-hrez) is a collaboration between Miguel Angel de Gregorio (of Finca Allende) and Quim Vila (of Vila Viniteca) that began in 1998 and was only recently imported to NYC. Mostly from a single parcel of 70+ year old vines in Rioja Alta, with some of the Garnacha coming from Rioja Baja, this wine is from an incredible vintage and aged in French oak for 16 months. Very limited production, only 800 cases made a year!
Recommended Food Pairing: Roasted duck, venison, a juicy bone-in Porterhouse steak, or a aged parmesan-dusted creamy rabbit ragu.
