AGE Fuenmayor Gran Reserva 1959, Rioja

In Spain, the Fuenmayor label can still be encountered if you rummage through some random old wine shops on less traveled streets.  Bodegas AGE was founded in 1881 by Félix Azpilicueta Martínez in Fuenmayor, joined by two established winemaking families, García and Entreña.  In Rioja Alta, 1959 was a great vintage for ripe, high-quality wines. Sweet red fruit, dried herbs, flowers and berries, leather and tobacco.  Complex with great length – electric soul.
