De La Riva "Manzanilla Pasada" (750ml)Regular price $110.00
Jerez is commonly seen as a region where terroir isn’t an important factor in defining the wines. This hasn’t always been the case; in the past the region was delineated into Pagos - blocks of vineyards that have similar characteristics - and naturally some vineyards were considered more noble than others and were bottled separately. De la Riva is a renowned historic Jerez brand that was rescued by young winemakers Ramiro Ibáñez and Willy Pérez in 2017. This wine is from a Jerez pago, handled in Sanlúcar. The fruit is from 'La Blanquita' vineyard within Balbaina Alta, 9km in from the sea at about 65km and the most coastal vineyard of the Jerez zone. The wine has an average age of more than 10 years (twenty botas were left without withdrawal and freshening for 6 years). Only 2,000 bottles of Pasada will be drawn, before this solera is allowed to naturally continue maturation becoming an Amontillado. The wine is a slight coppery-golden hue. The flavor is UNBELIEVABLE. Filled with umami, pastry dough, hints of praline and incredibly silky in the mouth. This is one of our most special bottles in the shop and a true gem for any Sherry fanatic out there.
