Joan d'Anguera "La Planella" Montsant 2019, Catalonia

Planted in 1983, Finca la Planella is a 12ha north-facing vineyard planted with  old vine carinyena, syrah and garnatxa on clay limestone soils.  This wine gets the full organic and biodynamic treatment by Joan and Josep D’Anguera - Hand-harvested, whole cluster fermentation with natural yeasts, followed by 12 months of aging in concrete and used French oak barrels.  A fresh approach to otherwise inky grapes, an eye opener to a new wave ion the Montsant.
