If you’re looking for vintage Rioja in the classic style (post 1940’s) this Imperial is quite the exemplar. Only made in exceptional vintages, in fact, this Gran Reserva rises above the rest because, well it’s Imperial, a special bottling since the 1920’s, aged 36 months in French casks and 48 months in bottle before release.  Long-lived, spicy and expressive, velvety berries and silky vanilla creams – a Rioja dream.
