Familia Nin-Ortiz "Nit de Nin Caçador" 2017Regular price $115.00
Varieties: Garnatxa Peluda & Carinyena. Appearance: Deep, dark mulberry bordering on aubergine. Nose: So beautiful and aromatically pronounced. Deep berries, garrigue, spice all pull you into the glass with intoxicating grace. Palate: This wine is in a phenomenal moment to drink! Medium-full bodied and because of the time in bottle the tannins are now sweet and smooth. The dark berries have condensed with the Mediterranean spices. It’s amazing to see how this wine has evolved and it is such a delight to taste. Vinification: In 2004 Ester Nin bought a 3 hectare parcel of old vines in Mas d’En Caçador– the famed vineyard on the border between Porrera and Gratallops. At 650 meters above sea level, this site is one of the highest in the Priorat. Nit de Nin is hand harvested, whole-cluster, fermented by indigenous yeasts, with a gentle 4-week maceration and manual punch-downs. Aged in foudre for 16 months and further time in the bottle. As with all their wines, it is organically and biodynamically made, and everything is done in micro-tiny production by hand. Recommended Food Pairing: Grilled lamb, white bean stews, rabbit ragu, or even bison burgers on one of those lingering late-summer nights in the middle of September when there is a hint of chill in the air.
