Varieties: 40% Treixadura, 40% Dona Blanca, 20% Verdello.
Appearance: Clear, light golden hued.
Nose: Aromas of beeswax, honeycomb, golden apple, wet stone.
Palate: Dry, light-bodied, yet mouthfilling and expansive. Ripe apple and pear are framed by stony minerals, lambswool and flowers. Beautifully balanced between fruit and mineral, weight and acidity. Long, mouthwatering finish.
Vinification: This is a wine crafted entirely from indigenous varieties, in the warmest and driest appellation of Galicia. With minimal intervention, Jose Luis Mateo showcases this unique terroir, highlighting the freshness and minerality of Monterrei, which is the region that is furthest from the Atlantic Ocean. Fermented and aged in stainless steel. 6 months of lees contact. Spontaneous wild yeast fermentation. A great quality wine at an entry-level price point for people curious about the region. Only 555 cases were made! Also, in 2018 considered by Wine & Spirits to be the Best Galician White Wine!
Recommended Food Pairing: Grilled white fish, roasted chicken or turkey, as well as most vegetable dishes.
