Remelluri, the first monopole (single estate) in Rioja, set a high bar with its unveiling of La Granja Nuestra in 1971. While Remelluri is now in the visionary hands of Telmo Rodríguez and Amaia Rodriguez Hernandorena, the family tradition of cultivating distinctive wines of place based on the practices of co-planting many varietals, farming responsibly, and then blending to craft wines of elegance, harmony, and cellaring potential are still very much in place. Hand-harvested, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in open top foudres, matured for 30 months in French oak, plus 5 years rest in bottle in Remelluri cellar. Earthy and herbaceous, black and red fruit, fine tannins, smoky, mineral – luscious and refined – scintillating.
