Barbadillo

Barbadillo

“Only a land like Cadiz could produce such pleasant and bright wines; the perfect mixture of the soul of Andalusia and its white albariza soils. The south in its purest form. Oenological magic since 1821.”

Barbadillo is a winery dating back to 1821, founded by Benigno Barbadillo, renowned for producing iconic sherries in Sanlúcar de Barrameda.  Located in the Barrio Alto district, overlooking the Guadalquivir riverbank, Barbadillo presides over a number of historic cellars where the wines are aged, benefiting from fresh sea breezes.  Their most famous manzanilla is Solear, along with several very old sherries that are released in very limited quantities.  Barbadillo is credited with being the first to release Solear en Rama, unfiltered Manzanilla, to the market.

Aside from their expansion into Somontano and Ribera del Duero, Barbadillo also produces a still white wine called Castillo de San Diego, unfortified palomino fino.  Together with the 7th generation of the Barbadillo family, Montse Molina continues to be at the helm for the winemaking, along with the addition of Armando Guerra who has introduced white wines under flor and native red grapes such as tintilla for red wines.
