Casa Castillo
José María Vicente is a third-generation owner of the Casa Castillo winery. His grandfather acquired the property in 1941, originally built by French settlers in 1870.
In 1985, José Maria and his father began replanting the vineyards. In 1991, José Maria and his family released their first vintage. Their mission is to create world class wines consisting of old-vine Monastrell and Garnacha. This is no small feat, due to the extreme weather conditions in southeastern Spain, which receives an overabundance of sunshine and very little rainfall. José-Maria has inspired a new generation of young winemakers to make wines showcasing the vitality and richness of the Mediterranean terruño.
