Celler Frisach

Celler Frisach

”We wanted to revive an ancient way of Terra Alta winemaking.”

“In this wine is something that we locally call ‘Lo vi fa Sang’ which is best described as the power of a wine that provides energy and force to keep fighting and moving forward.”

In the Catalan village of Corbera d’Erbe, located in Terra Alta, the Ferré family has made it their business to grow grapes for over two centuries. They sold the fruit until 2009 when Francesc, fresh out of wine school, together with his brother Joan decided to make their own wines instead.

Francesc and Joan produce dynamic, energetic, natural wines from over 20 hectares of vineyards, planted with native varietals such as vernatxa, vernatxa gris, vernatxa fina, carinyena, garnatxa peluda and morenillo.

Terra Alta’s distinctive oceanic panal soils located in the Ebro river delta are decidedly Mediterranean, so the grapes develop great color, soft tannins, and well developed flavors.

Farmers at heart, Joan and Francesc practice minimal intervention winemaking and continue to experiment each vintage to produce pure wines that express the terruño of Terra Alta.

Fun Facts:
