Equipo Navazos

Equipo Navazos

The idea for Equipo Navazos was born in 2005, when a group of sherry enthusiasts discovered many botas of mature amontillado hidden in the bodega Sánchez Ayala in Sanlúcar.  In an effort to revitalize these botas, Jesús Barquín, a professor of criminology and wine writer, and Eduardo Ojeda, technical director of Valdespino and La Guita (Grupo Estévez) and their team created their first bottling from a single cask under their label, naming it La Bota de Amontillado Number 1. Barrels are selected for quality and character.  Wines are bottled with little to no filtration.   Each release is very limited.  In an effort to be more transparent about the provenance of each bottling, labels are numbered and the bodega is named.  Equipo Navazos continues to source its wines from different bodegas within the Jerez triangle as independent bottlers of sherry.
