Gómez Cruzado

Gómez Cruzado

Bodegas y Viñedos Gómez Cruzado is an historic winery located in the Barrio de la Estación, the railway station district in Haro, La Rioja.  Its origin stretches back to 1886, founded by Ángel Gómez de Arteche.  The winery was later purchased in 1916 by Ángel and Jesús Gómez Cruzado, just as the nascent D.O. Rioja was being formed.  Today the bodega is run by the Baños family, who acquired the business in 2004.

Old bush-trained vines are sourced from the Sierra Cantabria foothills and the villages surrounding the Alto Najerilla area which give the wines a sharp, fresh quality.  The centenary cellar has been renovated, and modern technology is blended with traditional techniques.  Their line-up includes classic reds and whites, as well as single parcel wines.  The winemaking is handled by Juan Batista, a former winemaker for Telmo Rodríguez.
