Who is Nacho Gonzalez?
A trained biologist, Nacho turned his attention to wine after inheriting some vines from his grandmother who believed that the old vines of the steep hillsides of Valdeorras were treasures worth cultivating and preserving. Nacho seeks out these abandoned vineyards and works to revitalize them.
Local farmers think the vines are “lost” in all the biodiversity Nacho has surrounded the grapes with. Dubbed as loco, Nacho works on his "island" plots, naturally and experimentally, pushing the limits of the D.O. while honoring his grandmother’s wisdom and tradition.
