Orly Lumbreras

Orly Lumbreras

“I am in love with wines that express character, personality, and that make me vibrate and feel.”

“But be aware with the Ávila side, for me it is much more untamed and with a wild temper. …The area has magic, soul, passion, much to discover, strolling around you feel magnetism under your feet…”

What does one do after a first half-life as a sound engineer and radio show host?

Why, make wine, naturally.

Not just any wine.  We’re talking old vines garnacha, albillo real, and chasselas high up (1200m) in the outermost rim of Sierra de Gredos.

Orly got inspired in 2012, after being introduced to the rugged, high elevation terrain of Alto Alberche by fellow winemaker Alfredo Maestro. From there he teamed up with Rubén Díaz in Cebreros, under the RuBor Viticultores label before making the trek on his own.

Like a rescue dog, Orly adopts vineyards that have been abandoned or extremely challenging to farm.

The cellar work is accomplished in a retrofitted bodega in the village of Navalmoral de la Sierra.

Orly farms organically with a committed-to-Mother-Earth attitude.

To boldly go where no winemaker has gone before.
