Marqués de Riscal 150th Aniversario Gran Reserva 2017, Rioja

This cuvée was created in 2008 to commemorate the winery’s 150th anniversary.  Since that time, the winery has vinified this special bottling in excellent vintages.  This Gran Reserva is made from 80-year-old vines from estate and grower fruit showcasing the power and elegance of the Rioja Alavesa terruño.  Aged in French oak barrels for 32 months, followed by additional bottle aging in a cellar for 3 years.  Dark cherry, toasty, pepper and cinnamon.  Big backbone, concentrated tannins, spicy and profound.
