Jose Gil San Vicente de la Sonsierra 2022, Rioja

Mark down the name, José Gil, a young winemaker who has become something of an upstart in this part of La Rioja.  Organic farming of old vines Tempranillo, hand-harvested, partial destemming and fermentation in concrete and very old French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts.   The result is a wine of finesse and Rioja earth, floral and juicy, vibrant and exhilarating.
