Drink Spain

As you plan your Thanksgiving feast and wonder what to pour, remember one golden rule:

Drink whatever you like!

Naturally we lean Spanish—but whether your table features French, American, Italian, Australian, German, or South American bottles, there’s always room to slip in a Spanish gem or two.  Spanish wines are made to shine on their own and pair beautifully with cuisines from around the world.

Beyond your usual reds, whites, and celebratory bubbles, there’s a whole world of options to explore throughout the meal:

•    Basque and Asturian sidras make fantastic alternatives to sparkling wine.
•    A simple glass of vermut with an orange wedge sets the tone as guests arrive.
•    For a classic cocktail, reach for a Spanish gin and mix up a proper GinTonic.
•    And don’t forget sherry—a fino or manzanilla is the perfect appetite-whetter.
•
When choosing reds and whites, look for bottles with moderate acidity and ABV—they’ll complement just about everything on the table. A good rosado bridges tricky pairings, especially salads.

Thanksgiving is also the perfect excuse to break out those magnums—plenty of wine for a crowd.

For dessert, circle back to sherry, pop another sparkler, or explore dessert wines from the Canaries or Jerez. And for sobremesa—the stories and lingering moments after the meal—the Spanish have no shortage of options: pacharán, orujo, rum, brandy, and even Basque whisky.

Come by the shop for a chat—we’ll help you plan everything out so the only thing left on your mind is how much tinned fish and jamón you’ll be grabbing next door at our sister café.

We will be closed on Thanksgiving, resuming normal hours on Friday.

Have a great holiday!
