Bierzo
The small, historic wine region of El Bierzo in northwestern Spain has been in the midst of a renaissance, where visionary winemakers craft fine wines from old vines. El Bierzo has gone from barely known, to the place where Spanish wine lovers should explore with curiosity.
At the forefront of this revitalization are artisans like Diego Losada, César Márquez, Verónica Ortega, and of course Raúl Pérez.
Each with their own particular intuitive style, but tied together by the philosophy to be respectful of the land, applying only natural methods and minimal intervention to winemaking, seeking an honest expression of the native mencía, godello and Galician varietals.
