La Hora del Vermut
Sipped slowly in Spain, Vermut is the gateway to relaxation, conversation – the whole point of la hora del vermut.
Vermut (vermouth) is an aromatized, fortified wine flavored with botanicals. Traditionally used for medicinal purposes, hence the use of wormwood and quinine in the formula.
It wasn’t until the late 18th century that it was served as an aperitivo, and then a key ingredient for cocktails such as the Manhattan, Negroni, or Martini.
In Spain, vermut is usually served in a rocks glass with ice, garnished with olives or an orange slice. Trending, vermut has become very popular among bartenders for a Spanish twist on the classics.
Vermut, just what the good doctor prescribed.
