Brandy

Brandy

Brandy is a distilled grape spirit made from wine grapes in pot or column stills.  It has been distilled in Spain for centuries.  Most of the production is in Jerez, followed by a smaller percentage from Penedès.  Of the two main types of brandy made in Spain, the most common is Brandy de Jerez, which must be matured within the sherry triangle in used sherry casks under a solera system.  Brandy de Jerez is classified into three categories: Solera, Solera Reserva and Solera Gran Reserva.
