Clos Mogador Nelin
Clos Mogador, a trailblazing winery located in Gratallops, Priorat, already renowned for their sensational red wines, have also been crafting gorgeous, cellar worthy white wines called Nelin.
From four different parcels totaling 10 hectares acquired in 1979, René Barbier Ferrer cultivates and elaborates Nelin, a passion project of French and Catalan varietals growing on the terraced slopes of llicorella and schist soils up to 500m in elevation.
Comprised mostly of Macabeu, the aromatic orange flower element, and Garnatxa Blanca, the spicy quince and mineral quality, and other native grapes such as Escanyavelles which provide structure with tannins and acidity.
Practicing biodiversity and regenerative biodynamic agriculture, grapes are hand-harvested and spend six months fermenting with indigenous yeasts with the Brisat method (skin contact), followed by long lees aging of 15 months in oak barrels, large foudres, cement vats, clay pots, and stainless steel.
