Remelluri, the first monopole (single estate) in Rioja, set a high bar with its unveiling of La Granja Nuestra in 1971.  While Remelluri is now in the visionary hands of Telmo Rodríguez, the origins of the signature style for house tintos is most apparent in this ’79 bottling.  Basic tenets were still in place as they are today, distinctive wines of place based on a practice of co-planting many varietals, farming responsibly, and then blending to craft wines of elegance, harmony and cellaring potential.  Oak, vanilla, tobacco, leather, earthy, smoky, blackberry, plums, pepper – luscious and refined – scintillating Rioja.
